Eyes of Isis http://shakethelake.ca/main-stage/sunday-aug-15/eyes-of-isis/ http://shakethelake.ca/main-stage/sunday-aug-15/eyes-of-isis/#comments Tue, 20 Jul 2010 02:47:50 +0000 edward http://shakethelake.ca/?p=111 “Eyes of Isis” represents the passion and commitment of four teenagers trying to succeed where so many have failed.  Among energetic live performances, mass local promoting, media broadcasts and radio play, the teen foursome gave a fresh new taste of rock and roll in their hometown of Lethbridge, AB.  Accompanied with catchy riffs, memorable hooks and a well-built following there is no limit to the ambitions these boys encompass to reach the top.

“Eyes of Isis CD was a sold out success!”  Richard Amery LA Beat Magazine.

After only two months of writing the teens recorded their first eight song demo which has been distributed across the online market.  Nine months into writing, the quartet has twently plus songs written.  “Self managing is paying off but we need the assistance of a record label and a great manager to give the band the recognition we need to reach the pinnacle of success in the industry.”  Jordan Davidson, vocals/rhythm guitar.  “Eyes of Isis” spent January 2010 in studio recording the latest handpicked five song EP Hot as Hell to grab the attention of record labels, promoters and management all over the world.

The band is comprised of Jordan Davidson, the oldest at only 17, who does lead vocals and guitar and lead guitarist Chase Rennie 17, who have only been together since the spring of 2009.  Seven months into the making and the group has now been completed by bassist and harmonic vocalist Joey Emerson 16, and drummer and backing vocalist Aaron Folkerson, 15.

“While Davidson and Rennie are hoping to receive record label recognition right now  they are just thankful to have the opportunity to record an album.”  Kayla Carr, CTV News Canada.  With the support of CTV, Global News and nearly all forms of media in Lethbridge, “Eyes of Isis” has reached out to a large regional basis.  “Eyes of Isis” skill and sound are both way beyond and way behind their years.  With a musical style varying from classic and hard rock to soft and pop rock they have also captivating ballads.  “Being a band in today’s market, our goal is to write a musical style that any listener can enjoy.”  Eyes of Isis quote.

Fall City Fall http://shakethelake.ca/main-stage/sunday-aug-15/fall-city-fall/ http://shakethelake.ca/main-stage/sunday-aug-15/fall-city-fall/#comments Tue, 20 Jul 2010 02:43:41 +0000 edward http://shakethelake.ca/?p=107 Fall City Fall is proud to announce their first full-length album, “1629”.  The drop of “1629” marks the beginning of a new era for one of Calgary’s longest-standing metal-core acts – an era of progression.  This release represents more than just a new album for the local scene, it sets the stage for what the members of the band desire to be a revolution in Canadian metal-core.  Fall City Fall stands for unison in the hard music scene and a movement away from the typical image of bands today.  By carrying themselves with a willing and positive hardworking attitude, the six members of this dual-frontman band want to encourage a change in what is quickly becoming a stagnant and heartless genre.  Known for their energetic live show, Fall City Fall will be making the road a lifestyle as they carry that energy nationwide.  Watch out for the new Fall City Fall at a show near you.

Luke Dowler http://shakethelake.ca/main-stage/sunday-aug-15/luke-dowler/ http://shakethelake.ca/main-stage/sunday-aug-15/luke-dowler/#comments Tue, 20 Jul 2010 02:34:51 +0000 edward http://shakethelake.ca/?p=98 Beyond fronting a number of original bands, extensive touring and developing a loyal following, Luke Dowler is now emerging as a strong solo artist. With a captivating, emotive voice and edgy, alternative pop-rock sound-scapes, Luke delivers songs that range from keen, third story window perspectives, to candor in his own human condition (reminding us of ours) and reckoning with the ideas of faith, hope and grace in a world of turmoil. A consummate musician, Dowler accompanies himself solo with an arsenal of fresh ideas, looping and rhythmic acoustic experimentation or provides the electric soul within the interplay of musicianship that his band Veteran Greene brings to round out his recordings and live band performances. After four independent CDs, Luke continues selling records wherever his music finds presence–which has taken him from local favorite to international travel and the world wide web.

THE SKY LIFE http://shakethelake.ca/main-stage/saturday-aug-14/the-sky-life/ http://shakethelake.ca/main-stage/saturday-aug-14/the-sky-life/#comments Tue, 20 Jul 2010 02:22:42 +0000 edward http://shakethelake.ca/?p=90 THE SKY LIFE, out of Edmonton AB, have a brand new album and a sterling new single that will absorb your thoughts and instantly grab your ear.  “Roots and Wings” is introducing itself to the world by way of the song, “Reflective eyes, “ which epitomizes the dare-you-to-pigeonhole us pop-rock for The Sky Life.

“Reflective eyes” folds together a number of musical aspects – alternative, singer-songwriter, acoustic and poptronica, indie and more – into a brand new creation.  The song is a poignant, melodic excursion into the hearts of Justin Carter, Bobby Kuhl, Dwight Werbicki, Daniel Hooft and Josh Steffen – the artists that make up the membership of THE SKY LIFE.

Both organic and electrically charged, brimming with ambiance, personality and emotional resonance, THE SKY LIFE’S music dips into the tender feelings of the human heart and boasts music to complement.  It reveals a batch of song crafters interested in winning fans – but not through sizzle-for-a-second cutout copycat music.

Structurally, this is accomplished through a careful melding of ambient synth, piano, guitars and percussion which, according to THE SKY LIFE, “belt out their own songs and lyrics, thoughtfully crafted to connect.”
Twenty-two year old guitarist and vocalist Justin Carter hails from Alberta, Canada.  Huhl, 21, was originally a drummer but now serves as pianist for THE SKY LIFE, Josh Steffen, 23, has recently joined the group playing drums.  Dwight also calls Alberts home.  He is 25 and plays bass.  Daniel is from Medicine Hat AB, and plays lead guitar for the group.
